Heating time depends on the type of hot tub and the starting water temperature.
- These use standard household outlets and typically take 24–48 hours to reach 100–104°F from a fresh fill.
- With more power, these generally heat faster — often about 3–8 hours to reach the same temperature.
Keep in mind, outdoor temperature, water volume, and cover use can all affect heating time.
Most hot tubs are designed to heat up to a maximum of 104°F (40°C), which is the industry standard for safety and comfort. Many people prefer soaking between 100–102°F, but you can adjust the temperature to your personal comfort level.
Heat-up time varies by sauna size, type, and conditions, but here’s a general breakdown:
- Traditional electric or wood-fired saunas typically take 30–60 minutes to reach full temperature (around 165–185 °F)
- Smaller saunas (1–2 person) often heat in 15–25 minutes, medium-sized (3–4 person) in 20–35 minutes, and larger units (5–6 person) may take 30–45 minutes
Factors like outdoor temperature, insulation, heater strength, and sauna dimensions will also influence heating speed.
Traditional saunas usually operate between 160–185°F (70–85°C), though some users enjoy temperatures up to 195°F (90°C).

Assembly Questions
All hot tubs come fully assembled when delivered.
It is an easy assembly that can be completed with 1 or 2 people. Each sauna has an assembly instructions PDF under the 'Resources' section, and an assembly video under the 'Videos' section on the product page. It is recommended by the manufacturer to watch the assembly video before assembling it yourself.

Sauna Heaters require 220v, 30 or 40 amps, hardwired, you'll need a licensed electrician.
All EMPAVA hot tubs, and select Canadian Spa Co. hot tubs (Cambridge, Erie, and Ottawa) also need to be hardwired and you'll need a licensed electrician. The Gander, Manitoba, Muskoka, Okanagan, and Saskatoon hot tubs can be plugged into a standard 120v outlet.
